We're the second owners of this Softride equipped custom tandem. Purchased in the Fall of 2004 from Morgan Fletcher and Lauren Haughey of Oakland CA, who had Otis build it to their specs in '95.

Equipped with 26" wheels (Hope/Sun/40 spoke R, 36 spoke F), it was designed to be a versatile traveller on and off road. Original owners had an Allsop suspension stem installed, which I've since replaced with an adjustable ITM threadless stem mated to a quill adapter.

Metallic blue Imron paint done by D+D in San Lorenzo, CA.

Lisa and I like the Sugino cranks and Shimano 8sp XT drivetrain, though we'll probably swap big ring (currently 52t) for a 54t in the future.

Brakes are a combo of Magura hydraulic calipers and an Arai drag brake. Like the drag brake, but will probably switch to V-brakes in future due to hassles of maintaining hydraulics.

Bike's got braze-ons galore for loaded travel.

Other personal touches since acquisition: white Flite saddle (cap) and Brooks Professional (stoker), Stella Azzura stitched bar tape, Time ATAC pedals.

Lovely ride. A true head-turner that has even the most stoic, urban hardcore Raider fans of West Oakland smiling.
