WEBCAST ARCHIVE

Each day from May 13-19, the AIDS/LifeCycle daily webcast featured travelogue-style text, photos, audio, and video clips from the road.

Every morning at camp, AIDS/LifeCycle staff also published and distributed newsletters titled Pedals and Pumps. These newsletters briefed us on our cycling route, weather, the destination town/city, short features and even elevation profiles for the course.

Training miles ridden: 2,537
Favorite training grounds: East Bay Hills
No. of Clif bars consumed: approx. 93
No. of flat tires: 10
Longest ride: 7 hours 39 minutes
No. of calories burned: 13-Billion (wild guess)
Notable sightings:
  • Hail on Mt. Diablo summit... on a sunny day
  • Mountain goat crossing road in Berkeley
  • Two wreckless youngsters...[ahem] on a park bench in Alameda
  • A duck blocking rush hour traffic in downtown Concord to protect its young stuck in a drain
  • A town sheriff applauding in disbelief as I actually observed a stop sign while all other riders in my group just blew right through the intersection

Want the full lowdown on my training progress? View or download my training log summary (PDF, 99K). Oh I know -- very geekly.
