Be Brave. Be Generous. Just how big a deal is this ride? Consider this: to get myself from Bear Mountain to the end of the course route in Boston, I'll have to apply over 110,000 pedal strokes. For four consecutive days, I'll be on my bike saddle for as long as many people spend seated at their office desk each day. That's some serious mileage to my legs and butt. Furthermore, by participating in this event, I've made a promise to raise a minimum of $2,100 to benefit organizations dedicated to AIDS research, patient care, social services and advocacy. I sincerely intend to EXCEED that amount, but I'll need YOUR help to even meet the minimum goal. I've made a serious commitment to joining this ride. Please consider doing the same by pledging financial support to the causes for which I'm riding. MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Other Ways To Help the Cause 1. Register for the event and ride with me. If you know how to ride a bike -- you can do this. It might not be easy preparing for the ride, just as I've discovered from time to time, but you'll surely feel the rewards of being a part of such a great endeavor. When have you ever done something like this in your life? Would you dare ever? 2. Register for AIDSRide as a Crew Member or Volunteer. Be a part of the team behind the scenes or at each of the route's rest stops. Joining AIDSRide Crew or Volunteers is a great way to share the adventure if biking's not your thing. You actually become the human support structure for the Ride. You never feel like you count so much as when you're being counted on this much.
